Options

Click on the recently added “DoIT” tab. First of all you should change the “display title”, so your students can recognise immediately what the newly added “DoIT” in the course is dealing with. The “display title” can be changed under “Options” -> “General settings”. In this guide, we will call our DoIT “exercises”.

Under the menu item “Options” is it possible to change more settings. In the following the individual options will be explained in detail:

  • Under assesment you can activate/deactivate star assesment for evaluations
  • You can activate/deactivate application for extention for terminal controlled tasks under the menupoint „Verlängerungsanfragen“
  • Groupwork can be activated/deactivated
  • Speaking Tube can be activated/deactivated
  • Peer Review can be activated/deactivated, so students can evaluate and comment on each other’s answers

Speaking Tube

Speaking Tube is a little notification box on the right corner of the screen, where lecturers can set directions and proclamations about DoIT. It is also possible to enable the 'comment and evaluation' option in the Speaking Tube for all participants. The Speaking tube is available on most pages.

Groupwork

The set-up exercises can be worked on individually or in groups. Authorized for the group work is every group that is added to the lecturers’ or tutors’ list of participants. After activating the group work, every participant needs to decide after the first access to DoIT which group he/she would like to join to work on the excersises. This process prevents the participants from being a member of different groups and therefore from being able to copy the work of others. Lecturers or tutors are able to reassign someone's participation in a group, so that the participant needs to assign again into a new group. Caution please: Don’t change the group modus to individual modus, if the exercise already started. With the change every answer will be deleted!

Peer Review

The peer reviewing is an opportunity for students to evaluate each other. On the one hand, it takes a lot of work off the lecturer when there are a lot of participants; on the other hand, every participant will get feedback from fellow students. Four different types of modes are available in the peer review:

  • All
  • All anonymous
  • Pairs
  • Pairs anonymous

With the All modus, participants are able to review everyone. In the modus “pairs”, the lecturer decides which participant is able to evaluate which other participant. You get two shortlists, who can move the chosen comment into the list below by clicking on the yellow arrow under the shortlists. In this list, it is possible to move or delete the comments as you like. Once you set up one of those variations anonymously, names won’t appear in the evaluation of the participants, but lecturers are still able to see them.
